The New Year Honours 2009 was announced on 31 December 2008 in the United Kingdom,〔United Kingdom 〕 New Zealand,〔("New Year Honours 2009" ) (14 January 2009) 4 ''New Zealand Gazette'' 87.〕 Cook Islands,〔Cook Islands 〕 Barbados,〔Barbados 〕 Grenada,〔Grenada 〕 Saint Vincent and the Grenadines,〔Saint Vincent and the Grenadines 〕 Belize,〔Belize 〕 Antigua and Barbuda,〔Antigua and Barbuda 〕 and Saint Christopher and Nevis,〔Saint Christopher. 〕 to celebrate the year past and mark the beginning of 2009.
The recipients of honours are displayed here as they were styled before their new honour, and arranged by the country whose ministers advised The Queen on the appointments, then by honour, with grades i.e. Knight/Dame Grand Cross, Knight/Dame Commander ''etc.'' and then divisions i.e. Civil, Diplomatic and Military as and where appropriate.
